Older people must consent – award changes affect home care packages
Older people must consent to any changes made to their home care package as a result of improved conditions for aged care workers, which came into effect on July 1.
OPAN has been working with the Department of Health and Aged Care on Home Aged Care Fact Sheets that clarify the new standards for part time and casual workers, which include two-hour minimum shifts and travel costs between jobs.
‘We support improved conditions to attract and retain skilled aged care workers,’ said OPAN CEO Craig Gear.
“But these changes must be appropriately funded to ensure older people are not worse off.”
