Aged Care Royal Commission anniversary a time to re-double reform efforts
On the first anniversary of the Royal Commission into Aged Care Quality and Safety, we are urging policymakers to ramp up the reform effort.
CEO Craig Gear said over the last 12 months there have been significant changes, but there is still more work to do to reform the aged care sector.
“These are really positive developments, but we need to redouble the reform efforts.” Mr Gear said it was crucial that the next 12 months ramped up the reform effort, particularly in relation to the development of a rights-based Aged Care Act.
“We are urging the government to commit to properly implement a rights-based Aged Care Act that embeds older people’s rights at its core,” Mr Gear said.
