Webinar- Medication: It’s your choice update

Date: Tuesday, May 21, 2024
Time: 12:30 pm – 1:30 pm AEST

Older people have the right to ask questions about the medication they are prescribed and to understand the risks and benefits involved. They also have the right to be informed about alternative strategies that do not involve medication.

These rights will be supported by a new clinical care standard, developed by the Australian Commission on Safety and Quality in Health Care, which aims to reduce the inappropriate use of psychotropic medicines, particularly for managing behaviours of concern.

Panellists include:

  • Craig Gear, CEO, OPAN
  • Professor Eddy Strivens, AM PSM, Geriatrician and Clinical Director, Cairns and Hinterland Hospital and Health Service
  • Loren de Vries, Senior Practitioner, Behaviour Support, Aged Care Quality and Safety Commission
  • Judith Covell, Member, National Older Persons Reference Group, OPAN

You are encouraged to submit questions in advance, during registration. We will answer as many as we can. If we don’t get to your question, if your question relates to a specific issue or complaint, you can call an advocate on 1800 700 600.
