Dementia and other cognitive conditions can cause changes in behaviours and communication, and effective communication is essential for upholding the rights of older people.

In this webinar, our panel of experts  discuss  barriers to communication and the unique challenges faced by those from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds. They will also explore practical strategies to improve communication between a person living with dementia and their loved ones and carers.

This webinar covers:

  • Communication changes after dementia onset.
  • Communication barriers faced by carers supporting a person living with dementia.
  • Practical strategies for communicating with a person living with dementia.
  • Communicating with an individual from a culturally and linguistically diverse background living with dementia.

  • Christine Dunbar, Facilitator, Centre for Dementia Learning
  • Lynda Henderson, Carer, Member, OPAN National Older Persons Reference Group
  • Grahame Smith, Lived Experience, Member, OPAN National Older Persons Reference Group
