Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme training

The Aged Care Volunteer Visitors Scheme (ACVVS) offers meaningful companionship to older people who might otherwise experience social isolation and loneliness. For more information, go to our Community connection page.

OPAN provides free training to ACVVS volunteers and staff members about aged care rights, advocacy, and abuse of older people.

If you volunteer in aged care but are not an ACVVS volunteer, you are welcome to complete the training. But please ask your volunteer manager if they have specific guidelines about advocacy and your volunteering role.

Talk to Us First

Talk to Us First is a short, self-paced training module that covers the rights of older people seeking or receiving government-funded aged care services and the role advocates play in resolving issues and concerns.

Talk to Us First takes 30-45 minutes to complete.
