Presenting Issues 2024-2025

OPAN has released the annual National Aged Care Advocacy Program Presenting Issues Report July 2024 – June 2025.

OPAN’s network members provided 52,206 instances of information and advocacy support to older people, their families and other supporters in the last financial year. This represents an 18 per cent increase on 2023-24.

Poor communication, lack of information and support to make decisions were reported to be the key challenges for the fifth year in a row. Difficulties in finding engaging service providers and barriers to accessing necessary assistive technology were other challenges faced by older people in the report.

The second half of 2024-25 saw two issues emerge, misinformation and concerns about the upcoming Support at Home program, and issues with Single Assessment services and wait times.
