Aged care and your rights – how advocacy supports you
Navigating the aged care system can be very difficult. Whether it’s your plan to maintain your independence and stay in your home or to eventually move into residential aged care, it’s important you get the right help and support so you stay in control of your life.
In this webinar we will look at the how the Older Persons Advocacy Network can provide the advocacy help and support you may need, via its nine state and territory member organisations. We’ll show examples of how they have helped thousands of people work through issues with their Australian Government-funded aged care services.
We’ll also look at how an aged care advocate can help you understand and exercise your aged care rights, seek aged care services that suit your needs and find solutions to issues you may be experiencing with your aged care provider.
These services are free, independent and confidential and are available for all older people seeking or already using Australian Government-funded aged care services across the country, along with their families and carers
We will cover:
- What is aged care advocacy and how can it help you maintain control and independence
- The role of an advocate in helping to protect your rights
- Understanding your rights when seeking or receiving aged care services
- How to engage advocacy support and common presenting issues.
Our panel, hosted by Julie McCrossin:
